Dalhousie
Project: Standing Offer Contract
Client: Dalhousie University
Service: Design, Produce and Install signage
Established in 1818, Dalhousie University is one the oldest universities in Canada. Spanning over four campuses, Dalhousie offers a superior education in a wide array of disciplines.
As demand for academic, research, residence, staff, and student needs continue to grow, Dalhousie maintains improvements to their four campuses and ongoing updates to signage.
With many campus renewal projects happening at once, it was a struggle to coordinate the various signage change requests. Because facilities staff were already stretched thin, their current signage management system was not sustainable. Dalhousie needed a signage partner that would take the time to understand and anticipate their needs, and help them find a solution that would make life easier for their facilities management team.
When eyecandy SIGNS INC. came onboard in 2010, they worked diligently with Dalhousie to develop a streamlined process that would allow Dalhousie staff to request and install signage changes quickly and easily.
“Our new process is so much faster and easier to work with. It used to take a full-time position to manage all the signage requests, now we just send one email.” - Monica Williams, Project Manager
In addition to a streamlined process, eyecandy offered Dalhousie better signage solutions by providing interior signs that are accessible and based on a modular system. These signs are now universally used across their campuses.
They also provided a wide range of wayfinding solutions for multiple buildings, including room signs, directories, and washroom signage and worked with Dalhousie’s Accessibility Planning Specialist to refine their existing designs to ensure they meet accessibility standards.
